I will be driving to the retreat from Brandon, Vermont and have room for 1 to 3 riders in exchange for help with cost of fuel. Alernatively, I would be willing to ride with someone else, also contributing to fuel cost. I can be reached at dayleann.geo (at) yahoo.com

  • Wmallory

I will be driving from Washington DC and will have room for at least one rider.

I’m not 100% certain, but I suspect that you there will be at least 500 people in attendance. I’ll try to get some details.

Hi Elizabeth. I am currently living in Waterloo, so not far from you! I have a car and am thinking of going to the retreat (not yet confirmed). We could potentially carpool – say if you meet me at the Aberfoyle Go Station, or something like that (as it would be a couple of hours out of the way for me to go into Toronto). Let me know by replying to this!

      • Trang Tudo

Hi Elizabeth and Sylvie, I know that there will be a big group going from Toronto. I heard that they may get a bus or a big van. Please email to tudothien@yahoo.ca for information.

Hi Sylvie I live a little while from Waterloo in Bruce County but Waterloo is close enough. I am volunteering for the retreat so I will not need a ride down because I will be attending a little earlier for preparation. However, I was wondering if I would be able to car pool on the way back to waterloo, and will pay for gas and meals on for the return. Thank you so much.

Why is it a thousand dollars a person? I want to be there. It seems out of my reach financially.

I’m hoping to find a carpool from Bangor, Maine.

We are investigating Amtrak, traveling from Michigan/Indiana border. Our first question is: What should be our New York Amtrak station destination? Will we be able to get transportation (for a fee) from that station to the retreat?

Does anyone know if any group is chartering a bus from the Michigan/Indiana area?

Port Jervis Line: Penn Station, NY ▬► Middletown, NY Train Station

Service to Middletown, NY is provided by New Jersey Railway from Penn Station. Call 973.275.5555 for schedule information. When you arrive at Penn station, locate the NJ Railway ticket booth (NOT Amtrak). Purchase your ticket to Middletown, NY. When boarding your train at Penn Station, any train going one stop to Secaucus Junction (SEC) is what you want. You must transfer at Secaucus Junction for the train traveling to the Middletown, NY station.

At Secaucaus Junction, be prepared to use your ticket again to enter the station. This is a large station and you will travel a distance to the track for your second train. Once you locate the platform where you will board the train that is headed to Middletown, take the trip to the last stop. For schedule information visit http://www.njtransit.com.

      • Simplebucket

  • Brian

I will be traveling from Fostoria, Ohio.  Is there anyone who would be interested in sharing a ride with me?

    • Elizabeth

Hi Brian, I’m planning on driving from Chardon OH – leaving on the early AM of 5th and heading back on the 10th afternoon. Would that fit into your plans?

  • Roshni Darnal

I am thinking of attending from Providence, RI. I would like to know three things. 1. Is there a cost associated with attending the retreat.2. I do not have a car and if some is travelling from either RI or MA can I share a ride.3. What will be the accomodations be like? will  it be at the monestary or should we arrange our own accomodations. If someone could respond I would really appreciate it.

    • Margaret O’keefe

Yes there is a cost in attending retreat at blue cliff and I am not sure if its full or not. go to buecliffmonestary.org check web site. you may be able to find accomadations outside of grounds, but from what I understand bc is full up. good luck if not try to attend nyc event.

    • Patlewmu

I am also thinking of attending. Coming from Ma, I am willing to ride share or  perhaps the train would be a better choice because of the parking issue.
      namaste,
      pat

Is it possible to go late?  On the 7th or will that mess up the flow of the retreat?

  • Laura

Hi there, I’m living in Cambridge, MA and looking for a ride to the retreat on the 5th, to share fuel and all that, if anyone if coming from the Boston area. Please let me know!! lhopps@gmail.com

  • Laura

FYI to everyone planning to travel to Blue Cliff via public transportation: I spoke with the NJ Transit today, and the train from Penn Station, NY to Middletown, NY will not be running because of damage from Hurricane Irene. From NYC, the only option is the bus to Middleton from Port Authority. Just so you know!!

So if you are trying to get to Middleton via NYC, you can take a Bolt/Megabus, etc. from Boston, for example (where I’m coming from), or Amtrak, which all arrive in Penn Station, then take the subway to get to Port Authority, and then get the bus to Middleton, NY from there (which is about 2 hours)

You can look up the bus schedule to Middleton that leaves from Port Authority at:
    http://www.coachusa.com/shortline/ss.details.asp?action=Lookup&c1=New+York&s1=NY&c2=Middletown&s2=NY&resultId=191956&order=&dayFilter=Weekdays&scheduleChoice=&sitePageName=%2Fshortline%2Fss%2Edetails%2Easp&cbid=725949612847
