Sit in Peace with Thich Nhat Hanh

September 15, 2:00pm-3:00pm | Sit in Peace | Copley Square

Imagine the energy of thousands of people gathered together and meditating on the open grounds of Copley Square with one of the most influential people of our time: Zen Master, author, poet and peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh. Trinity Church and the Trinity Boston Foundation will host the Buddhist monk as he guides a sitting meditation. You may like to bring something to sit on (it may be a good idea for this to be waterproof). You are welcome to sit on the benches and lawn.

If we are peaceful, if we are happy, we can smile and blossom like a flower, and everyone in our family, our entire society, will benefit from our peace. - Thich Nhat Hanh

Participation is free, no tickets necessary. This event is open to everyone, all ages, from every path, experienced or not. We kindly ask for there to be no display of any banners or signs, nor flyers during the event.

For further information, please visit Trinity Boston Foundation

As with all our retreats, we encourage participants to share rides wherever possible in order to reduce the environmental aspect of traveling. Please use the commenting system below to make connections with other participants to offer rides and insights on reducing the impact.

I plan to drive from the South Shore to the Braintree T and go into the city from there. Please reply if you might like a ride.

I would be interesting in driving with you Tammy. Thank you.

Does anyone know what time the meditation begins?

      This event begins at 2:00pm

It says that the walk begins at 2 and that there is a guided meditation before the walk.

Your best bet is to contact Trinity, but based on my experience with the sangha it will start at 2pm with the guided meditation.

            Thank you, Kenley.

I just received updated information and the “walk” is now going to be “sit” instead. It will be from 2pm-3pm.

Thanks for the update. I’ll let contacts in my area know.
